What Happens on the Shared Hotline?

How the 866-I-OPT-OUT IVR works after a US caller enters your Service Code.

When a US consumer calls 866-I-OPT-OUT, they reach Optacy’s interactive voice response (IVR). The IVR thanks them and prompts for a Service Code. After a valid code, callers can hear instructions or leave a privacy request message. They can hang up to send the recording or press # to re-record.

Timeouts and limits

  • No input for 30 seconds → the call ends with a prompt to call back if they need more time.
  • Messages longer than six minutes → the call ends after sending what was recorded; callers may call back to continue.

By default, only your Greeting is customizable on the shared hotline. For deeper customization, use a dedicated toll-free number.
