How Can I Reduce Spam Calls?

Hide the toll-free number until jurisdiction is selected, or enable Dedicated Number Spam Trap.

Hide the number until jurisdiction is selected

If your webform shows a toll-free number, enable Show toll-free number before user selects a jurisdiction that allows for toll-free number intake in the webform editor (wording may vary slightly in the UI). That keeps the number hidden until the consumer picks a jurisdiction that allows toll-free intake.

Dedicated Number Spam Trap

If you still get non-privacy calls, enable Dedicated Number Spam Trap on a Service Code. Spam Trap requires a dedicated toll-free number. When callers choose the menu option for that Service Code, the hotline plays the greeting and disconnects without accepting a message.

Setup

  1. Get a dedicated number if you do not have one (Dedicated Number tab).
  2. Use the custom menu greeting configuration on that number. Upload a Menu Greeting that prompts for options (for example access, delete, do not sell, and “all other matters”).
  3. Upload greetings for each menu option in the Greetings tab. See changing greetings. The “other matters” greeting should say the line is for privacy only and point callers to email or website support.
  4. Create or map Service Codes to each menu option and enable Dedicated Number Spam Trap on the Service Code used for non-privacy / disconnect.
