How Can I Change the Default Greeting?

Swap the default greeting for an Optacy alternative, your own recording, or text-to-speech audio.

You can replace the default Greeting in three ways:

  1. Use an Optacy alternative: Download a file from greeting scripts, upload it in the Greetings tab, then associate it with a Service Code.
  2. Record your own: Tools like Audacity work well. Upload WAV or MP3 to the Greetings tab. If you record on a phone, convert to WAV/MP3 first.
  3. Text-to-speech: Optacy no longer records custom voiceovers; use a TTS service such as ElevenLabs, then upload the result.

Technical note

For telephone compatibility, uploads are converted to 8-bit PCM mono μ-law at 8 kHz. Audio may sound tinny over the phone. Optional prep: roll off below ~200 Hz, emphasize 2–3 kHz, then normalize before upload.
