For Legal Teams: Jurisdiction Rules for Global Privacy Laws

Honor the right privacy rights in the right jurisdiction, without a separate form for every law.

GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other state or national laws do not ask for the same rights or the same consent model. Jurisdiction Rules let you configure intake and banners so each requester sees what applies to them. On Enterprise, Audit Trail then records every compliance step automatically, and you retrieve it from the dashboard.

Counsel is asked to prove that California residents can opt out of sale, that EEA visitors get opt-in consent, and that other jurisdictions still receive a lawful path to exercise rights.

  1. Access, deletion, do-not-sell, and data copy are not offered the same way everywhere.

  2. Europe expects opt-in before marketing tags run; California is built around opt-out.

  3. Legal review needs a consistent record of what the consumer saw and what your team did next, without rebuilding it by hand.

Configure rights at intake, enforce geo frameworks on the banner, start from defaults you can still customize, and on Enterprise, retrieve automatic compliance records from Audit Trail.

  • Jurisdiction Rules for Privacy Rights

Jurisdiction Rules control which privacy rights consumers see (and how intake behaves) by country and/or state. One dynamic webform adapts to the country or state the consumer selects and shows only the rights that apply there.

Use our defaults to support global privacy laws, or customize the checkboxes offered in each jurisdiction.

  • Cookie Jurisdiction Rules and Auto-Blocking

The consent banner detects location and serves GDPR opt-in, CCPA/CPRA opt-out, or another framework. Then it blocks scripts before they fire.

You do not maintain a separate plugin for each region.

  • Defaults You Can Still Review

Ship with global defaults, then tailor webform rights and email response templates so counsel can review the language consumers receive.

Templates cover completed fulfillments, unknown consumers, and out-of-jurisdiction denials, ready for your legal review.

  • Audit Trail for Automatic Compliance Records

Optacy tracks compliance automatically. The Audit Trail tab in the dashboard logs privacy request handling, configuration changes, and who performed each action, so counsel does not rebuild a paper trail after the fact.

Search by request ID for the action and timestamp, or export the full history as a CSV. Retrieve it directly from the dashboard whenever an internal or external audit asks what happened. Audit Trail is included with Enterprise.

Start a trial, review Jurisdiction Rules with your counsel, and on Enterprise, open Audit Trail in the dashboard when you need to show the steps taken.

Optacy helps you configure rights and consent by jurisdiction. This page is not legal advice. Consult your counsel on which laws apply and how to configure your account.
